Massive blitz by volunteers helps fill the shelves after local Food Bank move

Inside the food bank now located in a downtown building were volunteers busy unpacking boxes full of food to put on the shelves. The food drive was very successful last Friday with many volunteers.

Volunteers came out in droves to help pick up food for the “Fill the Shelves” drive last Friday put on by the Viking and Holden Area Food Bank.

The food bank has recently moved from the United Church to the new building downtown adjacent to the old Civic Centre.

The shelves were deliberately emptied out prior to the move to make it easier for the volunteers making the move.

However, once at the new location, the empty shelves needed to be restocked. Food bank volunteers, individual residents, and organizations all came out in a giant blitz last Friday to once again stock the shelves so there would be something to put in the food hampers that go out every month.
