CAO CREDITS COMMUNITY FOR DIVERTING WATER

Flooding and hose (CAO CREDITS COMM)

Despite initial frustration in not being able to contact anyone at the town’s emergency number, local residents showed real community spirit working as a team to prevent what could have been a flooding disaster.

At Monday night’s town council meeting, Viking’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Jackie Fenton gave credit to all those who helped stem rising waters which threatened to flood a number of residences last Saturday.

Unusual spring thawing conditions have been named as the reason  for a massive overflow of water which took place last weekend in the northeast end of Viking.

According to CAO Fenton rapidly rising water along 48 Street was diverted away from area homes thanks to the cooperative effort of a number of local residents who came out and assisted to divert the rushing water.
