Wainwright RCMP make arrest after elderly liquor store employee assaulted

On Feb. 12, at approximately 4:36 p.m., a male suspect walked into a liquor store in Wainwright, grabbed a bottle of liquor and then hit an elderly employee across the face with it.

The female victim suffered serious injuries. The suspect then proceeded to assault another male as he was fleeing the scene. A good Samaritan tried to help, and he was also assaulted.

A short time after this incident, RCMP received a tip from a citizen which led to the identification of a male suspect. The accused was located at his residence and was taken into police custody.



Jessie Isaac Turk (23 yrs old) of Wainwright, Alta, has been charged with the following offences:
· Aggravated Assault (x2)
· Assault

He has been remanded into police custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Lloydmisnter, AB on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022.
