Viking to get a wad of money from BMS

Money the Town of Viking will receive from the Beaver Regional Waste Management Services Commission (Beaver Municipal Solutions) will be put into a reserve fund until such time as council determines how the money should be spent.

The Commission announced yesterday that approval has been received from the Minister of Municipal Affairs, the Honourable Greg Weadick, for release of up to $1 million dollars in surplus funds per year for the three year period ending December 31, 2016.  As a result, the Town of Viking will receive $137,555.33.

The approval is in response to a request to the Minister by the Board for release of accumulated surplus funds and his Department’s review of detailed business plans and financial information submitted by the Commission in support of the request… For more see the June 3/14 issue of the Viking Weekly Review
