Tractor Fire damage estimated at $44,000

On the morning of Thursday, Nov. 29, the Beaver County Fire department responded to a fire a half mile west of range road 114 on township road 484.

Residents Lois and William Darling said they heard an explosion at about 9:30 a.m. After looking out the house window she noticed a tractor that had been plugged in, was on fire and quickly spread to a near by shed.

Hunting charges updated

Further details regarding a number of arrests made last month in relation to suspected big game poaching in the Viking area will likely become available in the coming weeks.

    Four arrests in relation to illegal hunting of big game were made in October by area Fish and Wildlife officers.

Extendicare residents back home after flood evacuation

Emergency crews answered the early morning call Sunday to help evacuate residents of Extendicare after a water pipe broke, causing flooding.

Viking Extendicare residents were back home Sunday evening following an emergency evacuation which began early Sunday morning, Nov. 25.

Holden by-election Monday

Holden residents will go to the polls Monday, Dec. 3 to vote in a by-election  to chose a new councillor.

    Two candidates, Mark Giebelhaus and Alan Olson have put their names forward in an attempt to win the councillor seat vacated by Councillor Carissa Oswald who resigned her position in September of this year.
