Young barrel racer has “fairytale” year in competition
Kaitlin Haeberle and her horse Winning Approach, more affectionately known as Ticket, have had what she describes as a “fairytale” barrel racing year competing in the junior category for youth ages 12 to 16.

Safety concerns expressed about new mid-block crosswalk at Viking Seniors Centre
Viking’s interim CAO has expressed concerns about the safety of a cross walk put in at the Seniors Drop-In Centre.
In his report to council Sept. 18, Harvey urged that some research was needed to determine if the mid-block cross walk was safe.

Town donates land in return for building to house local community groups
A flurry of activity is underway in the parking lot to the west of Viking’s former administration building as a one storey building is under construction.
The building is expected to house the Beaver Emergency Services Commission (BESC), Viking/Beaver Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and Viking and Holden Area Food Bank.

Board conducts hearing on annexation bid by Town of Viking
A public hearing into the annexation of Beaver County land by theTown of Viking was conducted by the Alberta Municipal Government Board (MGB) on Friday, Sept. 15 in Viking.
The town proposes to annex about 20.1 hectares (49.6 acres) on its northwest boundary to allow for commercial and light industrial growth over the next 20 years. Land for residential growth is considered adequate for that same period of time.
