Word on the Street: Viking RCMP help other detachments capture convicts

On July 24 , at approximately 3 a.m., Vermilion RCMP were alerted to a suspicious male checking vehicles in the rural area, and was seen with a firearm. Members of the Vegreville RCMP attempted to stop the suspect vehicle near Vegreville, however, it failed to stop.

Members from the Vermilion, Vegreville and Viking RCMP detachments, as well as RCMP Police Dog Services were involved in a pursuit with the suspects north of Viking.

On June 5, police received a complaint of a theft that had occurred over the previous week at a rural property north of Bruce.

The complainant advised his riding lawn tractor had been stolen. This matter is still under investigation.

    On June 10, police received a complaint of a “gas and dash” theft from a local gas station. The complainant advised the suspect provided an incorrect pump number to the cashier and paid for a lesser amount of gas than he actually purchased. This matter is currently under investigation.

WORD ON THE STREET JAN 7 – 13: RCMP report

  On Jan. 9, police re-sponded to a single vehicle collision at a local gas station in Viking.

    A semi-tractor unit attempted to fill up at the pumps and collided with the awing covering the pumps causing damage to the structure as well as the semi-tractor.
