High winds cause loss of power in Viking area
Viking was just one of the locations in central Alberta which lost power for hours Wednesday, Jan. 15 as the result of a wind storm which whipped across the region.

Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report
On January 13th, police were called to a business regarding a shoplifting complaint.
When police arrived on scene, the suspect had departed but staff had been able to retrieve the property and identify the suspect. Charges are pending.

Wash hands to prevent flu from spreading
While Alberta Health Services (AHS) has named this year’s vaccination campaign, “one of the most successful in our province’s history”, it has also announced the influenza vaccine is no longer available in Central Zone and urges Albertans to practice
what it is calling, “preventative precautions.”
