7th annual Vikings in the Streets Festival
This past weekend marked the 7th annual Vikings in the Streets Festival. Though the weather on Friday evening was not ideal, things cleared up on Saturday and festival attendees got to enjoy a full day of activities.

Word on the Street – Viking RCMP locate youth with outstanding warrants
On June 12, police received a report of a residential alarm in Viking.
Police made contact with the home owner who advised she had set the alarm off and there was no need for police to attend.
That afternoon, police received a complaint of an assault that had occurred the previous night at a residence in Viking. This matter is still under investigation.

Viking Farmers’ Market in danger of being shut down
The Viking Farmers’ Market is in serious danger of having to shut down in the near future. A lack of vendors and customers have put the traditional event in real jeopardy, says Farmer’s Market coordinator Evelyn Payne.

Word on the Street – RCMP report of break and enter at Viking Airport
On June 5, police received a complaint of a theft that had occurred over the previous week at a rural property north of Bruce.
The complainant advised his riding lawn tractor had been stolen. This matter is still under investigation.

Seniors’ Appreciation events held in Beaver County
Viking/Beaver Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and Beaver County partnered together to host two seniors’ appreciation events last week.
Since June 5-10 marked Seniors’ Week in Alberta, the lunch in Viking on June 5 and breakfast in Bruce on June 9 were open to all seniors in the County.
