Time to hit the books! – New teachers and administrative staff at Viking School

Viking School has a new vice-principal, teacher and administrative assistant joining the ranks this year.

Kelly Arial will take over from Philip Brick as the vice-principal. Brick will stay on at the school in a half-time capacity with the Grade 6 class.

New 4-H Horse Club in Viking invites young horse lovers to learn the art of horsemanship

Young horse lovers can now learn all about horsemanship through a new 4-H Light Horse Club started by Carole Poche on her property just outside the Viking town limits.

Poche recently purchased the former Roddick property and is busy converting two shops into an outdoor riding arena and other amenities for the club members to use.

Faye and Arnold Lien’s Canada 150 garden party was a special social event for family and long time friends in the community, some of whom had attended the couple’s first garden party 50 years ago celebrating Canada’s Centennial.

Al Harvey appointed interim CAO for Town of Viking

Allan Harvey has returned as interim CAO for the Town of Viking following a motion passed Aug. 21 at Viking Council.

Harvey confirmed the decision in a telephone interview last Thursday, stating he started his second stint in the interim CAO position the morning following the council meeting.
