Minnesota Wild draft Carson Soucy 137th
The Village of Irma has one more athletic accomplishment to boast of, as Carson Soucy, born and raised there, was drafted 137th overall to the Minnesota Wild National Hockey League (NHL) team.

Local medical graduate wins awards
Wendy Howery (nee Hammer), daughter of Richard and Penny Hammer, graduated from the University of Alberta (U of A) Faculty of Medicine this June and, on top of that major accomplishment, was the recipient of three very prestigious awards attesting to her kindhearted nature.

Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report
On June 24, police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint. The vehicle was backed into an app-roach with the back door open.
Police spoke to the driver and determined that the vehicle was being used for spraying weeds in the area.
