Contaminated soil source of delay for 619 project

A report to Viking Council Aug. 21 indicated that the second phase of the Highway 619 water and sewer replacement project was 75 per cent complete.

The project is given high priority on the action items listed at the meeting with a report provided to council.

New officer posted to Viking Detachment

A brand new RCMP officer fresh out of his training at Regina Depot has started at the Viking Detachment and is eager to help people he meets along the way.

Cory Tourand, 24, just completed his six month training and graduated on Aug. 7. A week later he arrived at his first posting in Viking and has started another stint of on the job training for a further two to six months.

On July 31, police received a complaint of a fire. Kinsella Fire Department was on scene of a tractor fire.

On August 1, police responded to a complaint of a male trespassing on the complainant’s property.

Caribou Publishing is making some staffing changes between local newspapers including the Viking Weekly Review.

As of later this month, Erika Josephison’s tenure as associate editor/reporter of the Weekly Review will end, as she is moving on to other ventures. So too will Shannon Zelinski in our office. We wish them both well.

Replacing Erika will be no stranger to anyone
