TABLETOP EXERCISE PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE DISASTER IN BEAVER COUNTY
Should a major emergency strike anywhere in the County of Beaver, area emergency crews are now better prepared to step into action.
In an effort to evaluate and strengthen crisis preparedness, emergency coordinators from across the County of Beaver met in Viking at the town’s council chambers on Friday of last week to take part in a tabletop emergency planning session.
Facing with a pretend scenario of a tornado watch being issued by Environment Canada (EC) for Leduc – Camrose – Wetaskiwin – Tofield, participants came up close and personal with what action the various departments would be expected to take.
As the tornado watch escalated to a tornado warning with “strong rotation” developing southwest of Tofield and EC warning “This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation,” participants were put on high alert… for more see the Sept. 9/14 issue of the Weekly Review
