Viking MLA appointed to cabinet

Vermilion-Lloydminster MLA Dr. Richard Starke said he is very excited and honoured to be appointed to serve in the cabinet as Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation for Alberta.
In a mini-cabinet shuffle last week Starke was tapped to replace Christine Cusanelli (MLA Calgary-Currie) and Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk, who has been operating without an official cabinet portfolio since before last year’s election, was selected to replace Advanced Education & Enterprise Minister Stephen Khan (MLA St. Albert)
In a telephone interview with the Weekly Review, Dr. Starke said he received a phone call during the Super Bowl, Sunday, Feb. 3, from Alberta Premier Alison Redford during which she asked if Starke would be interested in serving as a cabinet member.
