New childcare centre operator promises “top class daycare”

Progress in establishing a new childcare centre in Viking is being reported by owner/operator Shiv Dutt.

“We are bringing a top class daycare and out of school care program to the Town of Viking,” Dutt proclaimed in a recent statement.

The daycare will be called Viking St. Francis Childcare Centre.

“We are done with renovations and Alberta Health inspection,” he said, Aug. 3. And as of July 16, “We have received a final occupancy certificate. One step closer to opening soon!

“We are just waiting for a final licensing inspection from the Ministry of Children’s Services.”

Dutt thanked the public “for all your support and patience. We will be starting to reach out to parents and guardians who filled our survey very soon.”

He explained: “We have a survey on Viking St. Francis Childcare Centre Facebook page. We are targeting for a September 1, 2020 opening,” depending on when the final licensing approval comes through.

He invited those interested in using the childcare centre for their children to “take the time to fill and share” the survey with family and friends.

Last week, the old Crossroads pharmacy sign on the building’s front was being torn down, and a new sign will take its place for the new direction that the building has been repurposed.

The daycare can take up to 70 children to be supervised by several child development staff and a director of operations.
Dutt also said that strict protocols are going to be put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
