Local medical graduate wins awards

Wendy Howery (nee Hammer), daughter of Richard and Penny Hammer, graduated from the University of Alberta (U of A)  Faculty of Medicine this June and, on top of that major accomplishment, was the recipient of three very prestigious awards attesting to her kindhearted nature.

At the Convocation Awards Breakfast held on June 6, surrounded by her family, friends, and colleagues, Howery was honoured with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.

It is awarded to one graduating medical student for “exemplifying outstanding humanism in medicine along with scientific excellence,” according to the Gold Humanism Honour Society Foundation.
