Individual taxes may increase slightly in Viking

The Town of Viking mill rate of 13.2 will remain the same, however, individual taxes may increase slightly due to increased assessments.

Chief Administrative Officer Jackie Fenton told council that all the comparisons she had completed showed any increases in taxes would likely run between $20 and $50 per household.

On Monday, June 16 Viking council voted to accept the 2014 budget as well as the bylaw which set the mill rate for this tax year.

Ashley Bodnarchuk and Colette Miller with Wilde & Company,  a firm of chartered accountants from Vegreville which has served the town of Viking for years, spoke to council and outlined the findings of the annual audit.
