Brett Jakubec trains at Euro Pro Basketball Camp in Spain

Brett Jakubec travelled to Girona, Spain for 30 days earlier this spring to take part in a three week training and exposure camp called Euro Pro Basket and to play in the week long Euro Pro Summer League where many agents, coaches, and scouts attend to watch the players.

Jakubec says that though it “was a challenge to gather the courage to book the trip, spend the money, buy the plane ticket, and actually go,” he wanted to give himself the best chance possible to play professional basketball overseas.

“I didn’t want to live with the regret of not taking this chance and having to wonder ‘what if?’”

Once in Girona, the next challenge was adapting to the European lifestyle and culture.

“I don’t know Spanish so it was difficult to read signs and speak to people. Thankfully the program was an English-based camp,” he says.
