Airport’s future to be discussed

Viking Town Council agreed Monday, May 21 at its regular meeting that it will have to soon make a decision about the future of the Viking airport.

Council heard that the lighting landing system is not operational and that  if parts cannot be found to repair it, the system will have to be replaced at a cost of about $3,400 to the town.

In addition, Chief Administrative Officer Rod Krips told council  the apron at the airport (the apron is that area where aircraft are park-ed) will soon need work and that the runway is in need of an overlay.
