Vermilion RCMP lay drug charges on male

On Jan. 17, 2025, Vermilion RCMP responded to the request of a well-being check in a rural area near Township Road 524 and Range Road 82.

RCMP members responded to the location and through the course of the investigation, seized an array of bear spray, and then drugs, including approximately 2.93 grams of suspected psilocybin, over 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over 4 grams of fentanyl, almost 2 grams of suspected cocaine, a large quantity of suspected gabapentin.

Francis Meesto (35), a resident of Lloydminster, Alta., was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose x 2, possession of controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and endangering an animal.

Meesto was released with a court date of March 17, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.

RCMP had located a very young puppy which appeared in distress and was transported to receive care.
