Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate indecent acts, suspect charged
Wood Buffalo RCMP have continued to receive reported incidents of indecent acts in public places in Fort McMurray and have laid charges as a result.
On July 11, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to reports of male committing an indecent act inside of a grey vehicle, parked on Millennium Drive in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray. The male fled before Police arrived on scene. Approximately one hour later, Wood Buffalo RCMP again responded to another reported incident with a male in a grey Volkswagen parked on Plamondon Drive. When confronted by witnesses, the male fled and in doing so, collided with a parked pick up truck.
Wood Buffalo RCMP General Duty, with assistance from Specialized Investigations Unit and Forensic Identification Section, were able to identify a male suspect. On July 15, 2024, Police located and arrested the suspect without incident.
Ryan Kendall, a 25-year-old resident of Fort McMurray, is facing charges including:
- Four counts of Indecent Act
- Five counts Fail to comply with Release Order
- Fail to remain at scene of collision
Kendall was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and he was remanded into custody. Kendall is set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice – Fort McMurray on July 22, 2024. Kendall was previously charged for similar incidents in June of this year and was at large on a Release Order.
RCMP are still looking to identify the owner of the parked vehicle damaged as a result of the collision It is believed to have been a black DODGE Ram, parked at the apartment complex on the corner of Plamondon Drive and Prospect Drive. RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity to police. Reports tell us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future.
