Memorial fundraiser for Sierra a great success
A second annual pet food fundraiser in memory of Sierra Loades has resulted in more great results – this time for a dog sanctuary in Flagstaff County.
Sierra’s mother, Krissy Petroskey, was elated at the generosity of the community as people stepped up to help the animals her daughter so dearly loved.
“One truck box full of pet food and $1,657 in cash was raised and donated to the Canine Love Dog Rescue Society in memory of Sierra in only five days from the Viking community, Viking School, and friends and family of Sierra,” she said.
The Grade 11 Class, who were Sierra’s classmates, at Viking School brought in the most pet food, so they will each get a slushie gift certificate donated by J.D. Construction as well as leather bracelets and bandana (buffs) donated by the Canine Love Dog Rescue Society.
“On Friday (June 10) we took the pet food to the dog rescue and got to see some dogs and puppies,” said Krissy.
The drive was held from June 6-10 with donations from the public taken by the Viking Alliance Church, Viking Meats, Viking AG Foods, and Viking Home Hardware.
Sierra’s family, school and community are building on this strong relationship with the community to keep the momentum going and create a lasting legacy for a beloved girl, who was just 12 at the time of her passing.
