Ten year old daughter of Mrs. A.C. Mowdy saves house by quick and cool work
While Mrs. A.C. Mowdy went up town Monday morning to do some shopping, her young son lit a match and threw it in the wood box.
Her ten year old daughter came home from school two minutes afterwards and found the wood box in a blaze and the wood work near the stove bursting into flames.
The young girl promptly grabbed a pail of water and began extinguishing the fire. When the fire department arrived she had it under control and practically out and informed them that there was another pail of water if they needed it.
The damage was very slight, except filling the house with smoke and charring the woodwork near the stove in the kitchen. The courageous girl was thanked for her bravery.
