Word on the Street: VIKING RCMP REPORT, fraudsters in the area
On Aug. 29, police received a complaint from a citizen who had received what he believed to be a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be with the Credit Bureau.
The caller advised him his credit card had been used out of country but he could hear laughter in the background so became suspicious and hung up.
Police tried to call the number back however, were advised it was out of service.
Fortunately, the complainant did not provide any personal information to the caller so did not become a victim of fraud.
That same morning, police received a complaint of a suspicious person at a rural location in the Bruce area.
The caller advised a male had attended her farm looking for recyclable items like old batteries or vehicles.
