Word on the Street: VIKING RCMP REPORT – GAS AND DASH

On Sept. 7, police received a complaint of a vehicle passing unsafely on Highway 36. Police were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

That evening, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Secondary 870. Police made patrols in the area but the vehicle in question was not located.

On Sept. 9, police received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle parked on the side of the road for over two weeks. Police attended and had the vehicle towed. The registered owner was contacted and advised.

That same morning, a citizen contacted police to report she had received two fraudulent emails from someone claiming to be from CIBC.

The emails stated she should check her bank account as money may have been taken out and a link was provided for her to access her account. The complainant did not open the link as she does not have any accounts with the CIBC. This information was forwarded to the Anti-Fraud unit.
