Viking Historical Society to restore well-known milk wagon

In 2017 the Viking Historical Society will be celebrating their 50th year of operation.

To commemorate this occasion, society members have decided to restore Viking Creamery’s horse-drawn milk wagon.

The Historical Society says that the wagon is believed to be the last operating milk wagon in western Canada.

The wagon was driven by a man named Wellington Hume Haire, better known as Bill Haire, of Viking.

According to Viking’s history book ‘Viking in Profile’ Haire became the “milk man” in 1948 when the Viking Creamery took over the milk delivery service. Prior to that… for more see the Aug. 16/16 Weekly Review
