Viking farmer travels to Toronto to promote canola
Viking’s Jeanette Andrashewski has been on three trips to Toronto, participated in cooking workshops with world class chefs, been interviewed by food bloggers, and spoken to bus-loads of people about canola farming, and it all happened by chance.
Andrashewski said she was just accompanying her husband Dwayne to the Farm Tech show in Edmonton this January when she happened to start talking to someone involved in the Alberta Canola Producers Commission (ACPC). This person suggested she stop by the ACPC booth and speak with Simone Demers Collins, Market Development and Promotions Coordinator for ACPC, as the organization was looking for someone like her.
At first, Andrashewski said she was hired to be a children’s educator because of her combined background in education (she was previously the pre-school teacher in Viking for many years) and farming, but the position has evolved from there.
