Gas Kings reviving senior hockey in Viking

For the first time in more than five years Viking will have a Men’s Senior Hockey team. As of June 8, the Viking Gas Kings are officially part of the Sask-Alta Senior Hockey League.

According to Todd Ritchie, one of the people who worked to get the Gas Kings back up and running, this news is a long time coming. He says a group of men got together last year and decided that it was time to get the Gas Kings going again, “It had been too long.” 

Throughout this spring, the group gathered many times and were able to find enough local players to start a team. They even held a few spring skates and had as many as 23 players and three goalies come out to play.

In March, Ritchie says, they approached the Sask-Alta League and asked to join.
