Viking Lions Club growing new possibilities

With close to 50 years of service to the Viking community, the Viking Lions Club is entering into an exciting new venture, says Lions President Clint Nearing.

Lions International will celebrate their 100 year anniversary in 2017, and the Viking club will celebrate their Golden Anniversary in 2018.

    The Lions had a very long-standing traditional fundraiser, the Men’s Night Out, that had always served as the group’s biggest source of fundraising. Now, with casino funding, and dwindling interest in the Men’s Night Out, the club was looking for a new way to raise money.

    The club has rented 100 acres of land just two miles east of Viking, and has received donations from local agri-business groups for seed, chemical, fertilizer, and fuel, so they can plant and harvest a canola field…
