Viking Council votes to take action on unsightly properties
Viking Council declared an intent to tour the town as a group to identify any issues requiring their attention.
From that tour, Council identified seven properties deemed as unsightly, and for which they will instruct administration to initiate notice and cleanup requests.
Mayor David Zayonce said, “Some of these properties have been under scrutiny for some time.”
Acting CAO Allan Harvey cautioned Council on perception, saying, “Is a property unsightly when it is not at a similar level as the houses adjacent to it? Or when it is detrimental, or unsafe?”
Section 2 of the existing Bylaw, 2005-573, says Council may deem any property to be unsightly or untidy.
