Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report – rural property owner perishes trying to save animals from fire
On April 19, police were dispatched to a structure fire at a rural location northwest of Viking. The property owner had arrived home and found his barn on fire.
He entered the building to assist his animals in getting out, but unfortunately, he perished in the fire. Police are continuing to follow up on this incident.
That same day, a citizen reported she had received a phone call advising she had won a large amount of money and a new vehicle.
She did not provide any personal or financial information and thus, did not become a victim. The information she provided was passed along to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
That night, police received a complaint of CN crossing gates malfunctioning at the crossing by Kinsella. Police attended, but CN staff were already on scene and correcting the problem.
