Local gymnast Jorja Andreson attended the Gym Power competition held at the Butterdome at the University of Alberta in Edmonton on January 15.
It was hosted by the Capital City Gymnastics Club with over 900 athletes in attendance.
Alberta Gymnastics Federation has taken on a huge change this year and adopted the Junior Olympic Program the United States runs. So gymnasts now are placed in levels from 1 to 10. This has been a huge learning curve for not only the gymnasts but also coaches and judges as well.
Jorja is competing at a Level 6 to start off her season eventually hoping to move up once she learns a few more skills in her Uneven Bar routine.
Jorja had a great first competition coming out with a Silver Medal on Floor, a Bronze for Vault, 8th place finish on Balance Beam, and 7th all around. To the left, Jorja performing a split leap in her beam routine and, to the right, performing her floor routine.
