Viking RCMP say there is nothing suspicious about the human bones discovered this past week on the Rozemhal farm just north of Viking, however, the discovery offers a real mystery.

The human remains were found Wednesday, Aug. 26 on the Rozmahal farm by Brian Rozmahel as he was checking his crops.

He said he noticed a badger mound next to what he first took to be a larger rock.

“It was a normal day. I saw the badger mound and next to it a larger rock which I went to pick up,” he said.

On closer examination Rozmahel discovered what he had mistaken as a rock was actually a human skull. He said he immediately lay the skull back down and as he looked around he saw other bones strewn about.

He said it appeared as though a badger had went after gophers and had dug up a grave and unearthed the bones.

“At first it was surreal. But I immediately knew that the bones had been there a long, long time,” he said.

Rozmahel said from his years of experience finding animal bones on the land, he was sure the bones had been laid to rest 50 or more years ago.
