ATCO fee highlights latest Viking town council briefs
The Town of Viking will not increase the ATCO franchise fee charged to residents, Council agreed Monday, Aug. 17.
Council was told in a letter from ATCO Gas that pursuant to the franchise agreement, Viking has the ability in 2016 to change the franchise fee percentage.
However, Council agreed that the percentage of 21.5 per cent will remain.
ATCO Gas pays the town a franchise fee. The fee is collected from customers in the community based on a percentage of ATCO’s delivery tariff.
According to Mike Whitall, Senior Man-ager, South Edmonton operations, in 2014 the delivery tariff revenue in the Town of Viking was $376,273 and the forecast delivery tariff revenue for 2016 is $400,953.
Whitall said based on the current franchise fee percentage the forecast 2016 franchise fee revenue would be $86,245.
