PROVINCIAL SALES TAX NOT BEING “EMBRACED” DESPITE FALLING OIL PRICES – says MLA Starke
Promising a “no frills” budget sometime later this month, Dr. Richard Starke, MLA Vermilion-Lloydminster told a Viking audience last week that the provincial budget committee is not “embracing” a sales tax to bridge its budget shortfall.
The Thursday, Feb. 26 presentation was arranged by Viking’s Recreation and Culture Coordinator, Amber Hennig.
In his address, Dr. Starke said reducing expenses, increasing revenues, and deficit financing are all being looked at as possible solutions to the current fiscal concerns.
