LOOKING BACK ACROSS THE MONTHS OF 2014
JANUARY
On Sunday, January 19, fire crews from Holden, Ryley, Tofield and Viking were called to the scene at 6:45 a.m., and arrived by 6:57 a.m., a total response time of 12 minutes. Bruce Fire Department held back as the on-call station.
Led by Regional Fire Chief, Regional Director of Emergency Managment, Cindy Conroy, crews were on site until about 8 p.m. by which time fencing had been installed to secure the site.
APRIL
Strong, cold winds and the threat of rain mixed with snow did not stop a crowd from attending the third annual Bull Bash on Friday, April 11.
Top prize in both the long round and the short round went to Dusty Lehman of Mayfair, Sask. with second in both categories going to Lonnie West of Cadogan, AB and third going to Ethan Schultz of Strathmore, AB.
JUNE
On June 13 the community cheered as Viking’s own Darryl Sutter captured his second Stanley Cup in three years as the Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Rangers in five games. Grace Sutter was thrilled with the accomplishment of her son. She said she cheered so loudly that she scared the cat.
