CN Derailment between Kinsella and Irma
The past week has been treacherous for CN Rail in this area.
A CN train derailed at Jarrow on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Jarrow is a populated locality on Highway 14 between Kinsella and Irma.
The derailment occurred at 2:32 a.m. on CN’s Wainwright subdivision at mile point 164.0 near station Jarrow, Alberta. According to John Cottreau with the Transportation Safety Board, upon inspection the locomotive engineer estimated 22 cars derailed (lines 75 to 97).
Within this car grouping were six residue tank cars that last contained gasoline/ethanol mix (UN3475). Cottreau said the initial report suggests that the cars …
