LOCAL STUDENT ENCOUNTERS CANADA
Grade 11 student Janae Roeleveld returned to Viking on Oct. 18 after a whirlwind trip to Ottawa to take part in Encounters with Canada, a program which provides high school students with the opportunity to meet other young people from across the country, learn more about other provinces, and take part in a number of activities.
Roeleveld attended the week long program specifically for
HEAD SHAVING FUNDRAISER
Dennis and Cameron Schmaus, two students at Viking School, raised $4,300 for cancer research as part of the Terry Fox Run by talking their grandmother, Gail Garvie, and family friend, John Gleeson, into a hair-raising experience.
The brother and sister students had the honour of making the first cut with the electric razor to get the head shaving started.
