HENDAY’S TREK WEST SOCIETY RECEIVES CERTIFICATION 260 years later
The Henday’s Trek West Society received confirmation of its official certification on Thursday, Sept. 11, exactly 260 years to the day it is believed Anthony Henday crossed into Alberta.
According to Viking’s Peter McArthur, who has spent years documenting the travels of Henday, obtaining certification of the Society on the same day as it is believed Henday first crossed into Alberta is both satisfying and fitting.
McArthur travelled to Chauvin, Alberta and met with Colin Saker and Lloyd How, members of the newly certified Society who has helped work on tracing the travels of Henday.
According to McArthur, the Society is working to locate the daily campgrounds of Anthony Henday as he led his group on explorations across the prairies… for more see the Sept. 16/14 issue of the Weekly Review.
