Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report

    On June 30, police received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle on private property.  The owner was determined and is being contacted to have them remove the vehicle from the property.

    On July 1, police responded to a complaint from a 48 year old male stating he was having mental health issues.  The male was located unharmed.  He was transported to the hospital for further assessment.

    On July 2, a vehicle was noted to be on the side of the highway.  It was learned the vehicle has been parked there for an extended period of time.  The vehicle was towed and the registered owner is being contacted.

    On July 2,  police received a complaint of fraud. 

    The complainant advised they had received a Facebook message from a friend telling the complainant about how she had just received a substantial amount of money. 

    All the complainant was to do was wire $800 to a bank in the United States. 

    It was determined the message appeared to be coming from the complainants friends but in fact it was not.  

    Police want to remind the public to update their security settings on their Facebook accounts, and that a legitimate lottery will never require a winner to pay a sum before they can collect their prize.
