Viking RCMP detachment back to full force very soon with addition of new officer
The local RCMP detachment will be back to a full force of four members, the Corporal and three constables, by the end of this month.
Detachment commander Corporal Rick Halter attended the regular council meeting on Monday, July 21 and said in his report that a third police officer has been assigned to Viking and will be on the job by month end.
The addition of a new officer brings the Viking detachment back to full force. The detachment has been manned by the Corporal and two constables since Constable Lindsay Williamson transferred to Ottawa in June of this year. Constable Williamson left Viking to train as a member of the RCMP Musical Ride.
Corporal Halter said the newest member of the detachment will be on a six-month field training program.
