Viking to receive $41,000 in BMS funds
The distribution of $300,000 in surplus funds Beaver Municipal Solutions announced in February has received approval from The Minister of Municipal Affairs which means Viking will receive an estimated $41,000.
The Minister’s approval was received by Viking town council in an information package regarding the distribution of the surplus funds at the council’s Nov. 4 meeting.
The possible distribution of funds was announced in late February of this year when the then Board of the then entitled Beaver Regional Waste Management Services Commission (the Commission has since changed its name to Beaver Municipal Solutions) released a statement saying it was requesting the Minister of Municipal Affairs to authorize an immediate release of $300,000 from the Commission’s unrestricted surplus to the Commission’s member municipalities: Beaver County, the town of Tofield, the town of Viking, the village of Ryley and the village of Holden.
