TransCanada speaks to Heartland pipeline concerns
In a letter thanking Viking town council for allowing TransCanada representatives to discuss the Heartland Pipe-line Project at a September council meeting, stated that Trans-Canada benefited from the discussion and was writing to address the concerns voiced by council members.
The letter states that, as with other pipelines in the area, once constructed the Heartland Pipe-line will not present a visual disturbance to landowners or to Viking, and will not impact the use of Thomas Lake for recreational purposes.
The Heartland project is a 200-kilometre (125-mile) pipeline connecting the Edmonton region to facilities in Hardisty, Alberta and a terminal facility in the Heartland industrial area north of Edmonton.
TransCanada says it anticipates the pipeline could ultimately transport up to 900,000 barrels of crude oil a day, while the terminal is expected to have storage capacity for up to 1.9 million barrels of crude oil.
