Informally CAO Rod Krips told contract will not be renewed by council: vote still to come
Although Viking Town Council has not taken an official vote, Viking’s Chief Administrator Officer (CAO) has been informed that his contract which ends Dec. 31, 2013 will not be renewed.
According to Mayor David Zayonce the consensus not to extend or renew the contract came following weeks of informal discussion among council members. He confirmed that an official vote will be taken at the December regular meeting of council.
Mayor Zayonce said he called CAO Rod Krips last Tuesday, Nov. 12, and told him of the informal consensus which had been reached by those council members discussing the contract prior to the actual vote, “because I knew CAO Krips was looking to plan his future and I did not want him to be kept waiting and wondering if the contract would be renewed or extended.”
When asked why the contract was not renewed or at least extended until a new CAO could be put in place, Zayonce said council agreed, through informal discussions, that starting on a new path was the best option.
