Weekly Review celebrates of century of bringing the news to Viking

An anniversary barbecue on Friday, July 26 marking the 100th anniversary of the Weekly Review raised $847.05 for the local Historical Society’s Raise the Roof campaign.

Members of the Viking Historical Society manned the barbecue, cooking up burgers and hot dogs for the 200 or more
guests.

Although the sun was shining, keeping the barbecue lit in the strong winds proved a real challenge.

Viking Mayor Marlene Grandinetti was on hand to cut and help serve the massive anniversary cake (baked and decorated by Donna Brooke and her staff at Food With Flair).

Among the many visitors was a couple new to Viking, Vic and Celia Pringle.

The couple presented the newspaper staff with a bouquet of flowers and
best wishes along with a card that stated the couple’s wish to be part of the community
