Town Council agrees to five-year energy deal
Viking Town Council voted to sign a five-year energy agreement contract with the Alberta Municipal Services Corporation (AMSC) to purchase power at 5.5 cents per kilowatt hour and natural gas between $3.90 and $4.10 per Gigajoules (GJ), a metric energy measure.
The new contract will come into effect Jan. 1, 2014.
Councillor Tim Doering, recently retired district supervisor with ATCO, spoke to the new rates and said while gas could fluctuate up or down in the coming years, the offered cost range was, “good.”
