Weekend Roundup
Although the skies threatened and the winds at times were strong, the first long weekend of the summer proved ideal for spending time out of doors.
While local residents spent time purchasing bedding plants and planting their gardens, area farmers were wrapping up spring seeding.
From Friday to Monday night late police across the province were kept busy on area highways ticketing speeders and careless drivers.
Proving that some drivers have no regard for the law or the safety of others, police say a biker was clocked travelling 180 km a hour while attempting to evade police and a vehicle was stopped travelling at 187 km hour on the posted 110 km hour. Police say the 15-year old female driver of the speeding vehicle attempted to switch seating positions with the front seat passenger in order to hide the fact that she did not have a drivers license. Several charges were laid.
Shortly after 10:30 pm on Monday, May 20 Vegreville RCMP along with the Vegreville Fire Department and ambulances from Vegreville, Viking and Two Hills were called to a collision six miles east of Vegreville near Lavoy, Alberta on Highway 16.
