Water tower pump house landmark in Bruce
The historic water tower pump house that now stands as a land mark between Bruce and Holden on Highway 14 once served a very important purpose.
Back when it was functional in the early to mid 1900s, it was used as a fueling station for steam engines which used coal to heat water to produce steam that in turn fueled the trains.
According to area history books, the section of land that is shared with the tower was settled as a homestead in 1903 and the buildings were made with logs and clay, as were some of the buildings having to do with the water refueling station.
