Irma given first chance to get its train station back
The Irma Station Restoration Society. That was the name proposed by a dozen people who attended the first organizational meeting to discuss bringing the Irma train station back into the Village.
The group, lead by Irma Village Councilor Robert Larson, met on Feb. 11 at the village office council chambers to determine whether the project was even possible.
The building was purchased by Joe Oracheski and moved off of the original station site on June 18, 1973 to where it sits now, two miles east of Irma and has primarily been used for storage until recently.
The buildings current owner Peggy Oracheski, was also in attendance and said that she has also been approached by another organization to obtain the building.
