Conservation village project discussed

Plans are well underway for a unique project that organizers hope will put Viking on the provincial, national, and international map, and draw more people to the community.

    The Town of Viking and Beaver County have agreed to work with Alberta Rural Sustainable Alternatives Net-work (ARSAN) and their conservation village project, which they believe will have positive spin off effects for the town and county.

Doctor wins  PC nomination by acclamation

Dr. Richard Starke of Vermilion has won by acclamation the nomination to stand as the candidate for Progressive Conservative (PC) party in the Vermilion-Lloydminster constituency in the next provincial election.

    News of Dr. Starke’s win came from Rod Krips, Chair, Vermilion-Lloydminster Progressive Association, Nominating Committee, late Thursday afternoon.

Viking’s New Year baby for 2012, David Friesen Neufeld, arrived on Jan. 3 at 8:22 a.m. weighing  7 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 20 and one half inches in length.
